From Maracay, through the mountains of the
national park "Henri Pittier", a narrow road leads to Choroní and Puerto
Colombia. Large parts of this road are completely covered with lots of
vegetation, with a diversity of plants and trees. You can see waterfalls with
crystal clear water, and if you're lucky you might even see a monkey in the
treetops.
Reaching
Choroní -or Puerto Colombia, the port of Choroní-, you'll
find a beautiful Caribbean beach: "Playa Grande". In high
season there's a lot of people, but in low season it's very
tranquil..... You can rent chairs and parasols, buy cold
soft drinks and ice-cream, and at the entrance of the beach
are some small restaurants.

Make a
trip by boat to one of the nearby beaches, such as Chuao or
Cepe. In Cepe you can find a small diving shop. Even without
any diving experience you can, after a short instruction,
go scuba-diving in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean sea.
After a
day at the beach enjoy the nightlife of Choroní. Frequently
the local traditional drummers play at the malecón
(boulevard) and the crowd sing and dance with them.
